I believe we all have “stuff,” and that healing and growth happen in safe, meaningful connection. I work with individuals, couples, families, and athletes through counseling, coaching, and mental performance coaching, offering a relational, warm, and highly practical approach. My goal is to help people feel seen, supported, and equipped with tools they can actually use in real life.
I am the founder and owner of Alive Counselling, an award-winning large group mental health clinic, where I lead and support a team of 18 therapists. Alongside my clinical and coaching work, I provide leadership, supervision, and consultation within mental health, sport, and faith-based spaces.
I work with children, teens, young adults, adults, couples, and families, and have supported university students and student-athletes since 2008. My experience includes working with students and athletes connected to The Ohio State University, the University of British Columbia, and universities across the United States and Canada. As a former elite athlete and university coach, I specialize in the intersection of mental health and mental performance.
I played elite youth hockey at Shattuck-St. Mary’s and won back-to-back USA Hockey Under-19 National Championships. I later coached in high-performance environments, including at RINK Hockey Academy, working closely with youth, elite teens, academy athletes, and college-bound players. These experiences shape how I understand sport culture, pressure, identity, and performance from the inside out.
My mental performance coaching is practical and structured, helping athletes train their mind the same way they train their body. Athletes develop skills in emotional regulation, breathing, visualization, focus, confidence, composure under pressure, resilience, self-talk, and recovery. I support athletes across youth, teen, junior, collegiate, professional, and Olympic pathways, including those connected to the WHL, OHL, USHL, NCAA, NHL, PWHL, USA Hockey, and Hockey Canada.
In my counseling and coaching work, I support clients with concerns such as anxiety, depression, chronic stress, burnout, trauma, nervous system regulation, confidence, identity, negative self-talk, and major life transitions. My approach is integrative and trauma-informed, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, attachment-based approaches, nervous system-informed strategies, and strengths-based psychology. My work is always personalized and tailored to you and your unique needs, with a strong emphasis on practical tools you can apply in everyday life.
As a wife and mom of four, I bring both personal and professional experience in pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, and the transitions of motherhood, including the birth of a mother and the formation of a new identity within this meaningful calling. I have navigated loss, trauma, birth preparation, medical and emergency interventions, as well as redemptive birth experiences, including a supernatural home birth. I deeply love working with moms and supporting women, couples, and families with compassion, steadiness, and respect for each person’s story.
For clients who desire it, I offer Christian counseling and coaching, thoughtfully integrating faith and Scripture alongside professional counseling and mental performance work in a way that is compassionate, grounded, and clinically sound.
Licensure and Services Note: Online counseling services are available to clients located in Tennessee. Online coaching and mental performance coaching services are available worldwide.

Functional Medicine Practitioner
Certified Health and Nutrition Coach
**Taylor Egan, Functional Medicine Practitioner Health, Nutrition and Fitness Coach**Hi, I’m Taylor and I am a Functional Medicine Practitioner, Health Coach, Nutrition Coach, and Fitness Coach specializing in Root Cause Medicine with a primary focus on gut health. I work with individuals, athletes, and families who are tired of managing symptoms and ready to understand what is truly driving their health concerns. My goal is to identify what is feeding a condition, address underlying imbalances, and support sustainable healing that strengthens mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual wellbeing.
My passion for this work is personal.
As an elite-level junior hockey player, I understood discipline, pressure, and performance. But long before that, I knew what it felt like to struggle in my own body. Starting at age 10, I dealt with chronic stomach pain, food intolerances, and recurring illness, including three bouts of pneumonia in one year. I experienced firsthand how gut dysfunction and inflammation affect energy, recovery, and performance.
Determined to find answers, I began researching nutrition, training, and lifestyle changes as a teenager. The transformation changed my life. Later, when I discovered my wife, a former USA Hockey and Ohio State hockey player, had been battling hypothyroidism despite being an elite athlete, I dove even deeper into root-cause health. Through targeted nutrition, detoxification, and lifestyle adjustments, she was able to restore her health and come off medication. That experience solidified my conviction that food can truly be used as medicine.
I left a successful career in the oil industry to pursue health full-time and earned my Functional Medicine Practitioner certification through Life University under Dr. Josh Axe.
As a husband, father of four, and head hockey coach, I understand real life. I bring practical, sustainable strategies that work for busy individuals, athletes, and families who want lasting results.
My work is grounded in my faith and this belief: you were created to heal, created to thrive, and created on purpose. My role is to help you restore your health from the inside out.
